Activities

Symposium

Fourteen multidisciplinary scholars shared expertise at a symposium in April 2019. At the symposium (based in Columbus, Ohio, US), each researcher nominated and facilitated discussion around one state-of-the-art reading from their discipline in a ninety-minute session. They situated the reading within a broader context, facilitating critical engagement on its potential implications for school disciplinary policies and practices.

Conference

After months of writing following the symposium, these fourteen scholars presented works-in-progress and received thoughtful responses from up to fourteen further multidisciplinary scholars acting as critical friends. Held in Liverpool, UK in July 2019, this conference event allowed for the further refinement of these sub-projects within a public venue open to all.

MANCEPT

As a portion of the University of Manchester’s Centre for Political Theory Workshops in September 2019, we brought together a cohort of scholars to work on papers related to the fundamental theoretical concerns of our project. This multi-day event established new dimensions of our work as we expanded our pool of collaborators.
